Yesterday I had the great honor of conducting a Q & A with the lovely, K.M. Neuhold, Author of Worth The Wait, book 1 in the Sexy Nerd Boys series.
Why did you decide to be a writer?
I don’t know if you ever “decide” to become a writer. I’ve been writing since I learned to read, write, maybe even talk. My first computer game was called StoryBook Weaver where you just created picture books. It was a big decision to decide to publish my work, that’s a bit like standing naked in front of people. But, it’s always been a dream of mine so I just decided to go for it.
So, what have you written?
Worth the Wait (sexy nerd boys, 1) is my first novel
What are you working on now? I’m currently working on polishing book 2 in the Sexy Nerd Boys series and I am just about finished writing the third book in the series.
Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your most recent book? I’d love to see Felicia Day play Abby!
Why do you write?
I write because not writing isn’t an option. To me, writing is a necessity like breathing.
What is the hardest thing about writing?
Sharing it with others and worrying about how it will be recieved
What are your ambitions for your writing career?
In an amazing dream world I would, of course, love to become a bestseller and become the author everyone’s talking about. But, I’ll be happy if I can keep writing and hopefully touching the people who do come across my books.
Any tips on how to get through the dreaded writer’s block? Don’t stress about it. Most people get so stressed about writer’s block that you make it worse. Step away from your work and do some free writing, go for a walk, listen to music.
Do you have a "day job"?
I work as a veterinary assistant and am also a full time college student.
What is the biggest obstacle you face as an author and what do you do to overcome it?
I think my biggest obstacle as an author will be making sure I have time to dedicate to my writing once I’m done with school and working full time. Unless I’m lucky enough to sell enough books to make a living and focus solely on writing.
What is the best compliment you've ever received as an author?
A friend of mine read Worth the Wait and she came to me afterward and said ‘this book really made me feel so many emotions’. That absolutely made my day.
What do you enjoy doing aside from writing?
Not that I have a ton of free time but I do spend most of it reading, I am an absolute reading addict. I also am a Netflix junkie.
What is your favorite quote?
Write drunk, Edit Sober -Ernest Hemingway. I don’t take this quote as literal, the way I see it is get
drunk on your writing. When you write you should absolutely lose yourself and your inhibitions. Then, when it’s time to edit you need to step back from the passion of your work and look at it objectively.
How can readers discover more about you and you work?
K.M. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer a few questions. We appreciate your time! And all the best with your upcoming release, Naughty Angel (book in the Sexy Nerd Boys series) in February 2016!
